The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET, which is a Test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and Colleges.
The UGC-NET is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode w.e.f. December 2018 onwards.
Awarding of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Eligibility for Assistant Professorship depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in
– Paper-I and
of UGC-NET. The candidates qualifying only for Assistant Professorship are not eligible to be considered for the award of JRF. Candidates who qualify the eligibility test for Assistant Professorship are governed by the rules and regulations of the concerned Universities/Colleges/State Governments, as the case may be for recruitment of Assistant Professor.
UGC-NET is conducted twice every year June & December. In order to regularize the UGC-NET examination cycle, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the concurrence of UGC is conducting
UGC- NET June 2023 in 83 subjects, at selected cities across the country.
2023 UGC-NET Application Form
The University Grant Commission (UGC) conducts the National Eligibility Test –NET to determine the eligibility to award the Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Lectureship in order to work and further pursue a Ph.D. in Indian Universities and Colleges. The exam includes various subjects of Humanities along with Social Science and English. The2023 UGC-NET Exam will be conducted from the 13th to the 22ndof June 2023. UGC-NET Application Form – Important Date
The 2023 UGC-NET Exam will be held from the 13th of June to the 22nd of June 2023. The other important dates will be provided by UGC through the official notification when it is released. The following table will be updated with the release of the notification.

2023 UGC-NET Application Form Documents Required for Applying
To avoid any inconvenience at the time of 2023 UGC-NET registrations, candidates should keep the following documents ready beforehand.
Board/ University certificate
Ration card/ Passport number/ Aadhaar card number/ Voter ID or other Government ID
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Certificate
PwD (Person with Disability) Certificate
Scanned images of photo and signature in JPEG format (file size of the photo: 10 kb to 200 kb, file Size of the signature: 4 kb to 30 kb)
A valid E-mail ID

2023 UGC-NET Steps To Fill Application Form
The Application form is available on the official website. Candidates can follow the below-given steps to fill their application forms for the 2023UGC-NETExam.

Click on New Registration

The 2023 UGC-NET Registration form will be displayed on the screen.
Information to be provided in the registration form are.
Name of the Candidate
Date of Birth
Note – From December 2018 onwards, Aadhaar Card is not a mandatory document for UGC NET registrations. Candidates can provide any other valid Government ID number like- bank account number, passport number, etc.

Once all details are filled in, click on the Submit button. The candidates must review the information given on the page and click on the Final Submit button to proceed with the process. Once it is submitted, an application number will be generated and displayed on the screen. Write down the application number and keep it for future use.
Step 2 –
Fill 2023 UGC-NET Application Form
The candidates should click on the Complete Application Form and start entering the remaining details of the application form. The details to be filled in in the application form include:
Name, Gender, Nationality, PwD category option, Minority community option, Date of birth, Single girl child option, Category, Diabetic option, A subject name in the post-graduation exam
Post name (Assistant Professor or JRF), Four choices of the examination center (in order of priority), Subject opted for UGC NET
Post-graduation pass status, Post-graduation qualifying examination from (India or outside India), Post-graduation board/ university name, Post-graduation result mode, Post-graduation course/ stream name, Post-graduation qualifying examinations state, Post-graduation year of passing/ appearing
Research/ MPhil/ Ph. D/ Ex-Service Details
Research specialization, (if any), Whether MPhil passed or appeared, Whether an ex-serviceman? Whether you possess research experience in the subject of post-graduation, Whether PhD passed or /appearing
Whether already a doctorate student
Security Pin (as shown on the screen)
The candidates should click on Submit after all the required details are filled in. After reviewing the details entered in the application form, the candidates must click on the Final Submit button.
Step 3 –
Upload Signature And Image
The candidates must upload their scanned photo and signature as per the specifications given below. The format of the scanned images and the signature should be JPEG.
Size of the photographed image
More than 10 kb and less than 200 kb
Size of the signature image
More than 4 kb and less than 30 kb
Step 4 –
Pay 2023 UGC-NET
Candidates can pay 2023 UGC-NETapplication fee through HDFC/SBI/ Syndicate/ ICICI/ Paytm payment gateway.
On successful payment of the application fee, a confirmation page is generated. Candidates require to take a minimum of four printouts of the confirmation page and keep them for future use.
2023 UGC-NET Application Form Important Points
Candidates must submit the 2023 UGC-NET application form online mode on the official website of the examination only. 2023 UGC-NETapplications submitted in any other mode will not be entertained.
A candidate can submit only one application form
The candidate must enter their Email ID and mobile number in the application form correctly as all-important correspondence regarding the examination will be done through E-mail or SMS by the National Testing Agency.
All four steps of the application process (registration, application form filling, uploading of the photo & signature, and the application fee payment) can be done together or at separate times
Candidates do not require to upload any document other than the scanned copy of the photo & signature in the application form
If the confirmation page is not generated/ displayed after the payment of the application fee, it means that the transaction has been canceled.
In such cases, the amount deducted from the candidates’ accounts will be refunded. The candidate needs to make another transaction of the fee payment.
The candidates must keep printed copies of the confirmation page for future reference.
The entire 2023 UGC-NET process of application is online, the candidates do not require to send any document through post/ fax/ by hand/ E-mail to the National Testing Agency.

Once the process of registration is over, the National Testing Agency offers a one-time facility to the candidates for correction of the application form. The steps for form correction are given below:

Step 4 – Click on the link available for form correction
Step 5 – Read the instructions carefully
Step 6 – Click on I agree.
Step 7 – Click on Proceed
